Back to School! Safety information and planning for college students!

School is back in session and settling into college life should include evaluating and maintaining your safety on campus. Schools and colleges are valued institutions that help build upon the nation’s foundations and serve as an arena where the growth and stability of future generations begin. Crime in schools and colleges is therefore one of the most troublesome social problems in the Nation today. Not only does it affect those involved in the criminal incident, but it also hinders societal growth and stability (FBI Report: Crime in Schools and Colleges). In order to be safe on campus, we should all recognize the risks and be proactive. One of the most profound dangers that college students must face is the risk of sexual assault. One in five college students experiences sexual assault during their college career (White House Task Force to Protect Students from Sexual Assault, 2014). So the next step is to educate ourselves on sexual assault, prevention and consent! In addition to awareness on sexual assault, college students should explore the warning signs of problematic intimate partner relationships. This is generally the time students date in casual or serious relationships. Knowing and understanding the red flags of an abusive relationship can be the first step into prevention of being a victim of a persons crime.

Here we are in a time of humanity where EVERYONE, place and thing is being questioned. The term deepfake generally refers to false images, videos, or audio that have been manipulated by AI; however, for the purpose of this post, I am using the term to refer to "fake people." Happy New Year! While we move into the new year, how are we feeling about ourselves and what do do we want to accomplish in 2026? If you sets goals to make improvements to your life this year, increasing self-confidence can help with that. According to Oxford dictionary, self-confidence is a feeling of trust in one's abilities, qualities and judgement. More importantly, self-confidence is acceptance of self. George Zimmerman is dangerous! New Domestic Violence charge.

George Zimmerman back in a Florida court today for felony Agg Assault and two other misdemeanors involving an incident where he allegedly pointed a gun at his girlfriend and strangled her ( NOT choked her like the lawyer said in court). The judge gave him a $9000.00 bond which he posted and was released on typical release conditions for a Domestic Violence offense.....no firearms, cannot return to home, no contact....blah blah blah. Again no accountability, why on earth would a judge grant so little bail for such serious charges especially when he has a history of Domestic Violence? I hope he doesn't hurt himself or others before the next court date! You know because of Florida's crazy laws, he got away with murder!
